Discover Brunei’s diverse cultural roots at the Malay Technology Museum, where traditions, tools, and lifestyles of the nation’s ethnic communities come to life.
Located near Kampong Ayer, the Malay Technology Museum provides a captivating look at Brunei’s heritage, celebrating the cultural intricacies of local ethnic groups like the Murut, Dusun, Kedayan, and Penan. This museum explores traditional ways of life through detailed exhibits, including life-size model houses, ancestral weaponry, and tools used for hunting, fishing, and crafting. Highlights include reconstructions of Kampong Ayer stilt houses, as well as displays showcasing the technological ingenuity and craftsmanship of Brunei’s past.
For those without access to a private car, we recommend using Dart (think of it as Brunei’s Uber or Grab) which is the most convenient option for traveling in Brunei. While it provides hassle-free booking and convenience, keep in mind that pricing may vary.
